ROCKY, SCOTT AND ME
Friday was a bad day for us. Rocky Weems called to say that his best friend Scott Prewitt passed away. Scott was one of the first members of the CROSSROADS CHAPTER, A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois.
I got to know Scott primarily through Rocky Weems, who was horribly injured 2 years ago. They were friends like you always wanted to have. They worked together as supervisors at Quebecor Petty. Two years ago, none of us thought Rocky would live after that old man turned in front of him and left him with a terrible brain injury. But somehow Scott knew Rocky would recover. None of us thought that Rocky would ever be able to be on his own again. But somehow Scott knew that Rocky would be just fine.
Rocky's recovery was a miracle – and I always thought Scott had something to do with it. He was always there for Rocky. These men would have been an honorable subject of a John Steinbeck novel. They truly embodied the definition of friends. I had the honor of visiting with both of them at the State Party. Scott was a gentle giant of a man but wanted to get thinner for himself and for his wonderful wife Robin.
He underwent surgery to help in that regard but complications from that surgery caused his death. Scott told me about his upcoming surgery and how much he was looking forward to the results. I always hated the expression "Only the good die young" but now Rocky and I know it is true.

I just want everyone to know that I am 'building' this page for the man of my dreams! He is a very devoted, dedicated user of this site, and a "friend" to many of you already. This page is a "surprise" for him. He logs on daily, and he is constantly saying he wishes he could make his page better. Our scheduels don't allow us the time it would take for me to actually teach him how to build his page, so I'm going to do it for him, and once I have this page ready, I will turn it over to him, and I have no doubt he will be very happy with it. He'll be able to change his information at that time, and introduce his old friends to his new page, as well as add all the new friends he will get once you get to know him. I'm not going to tell you EXACTLY who he is just yet, and I'll let him put his own personal pictures on when I give him the page, but I will tell you about him.
He is just exactly like the header on this page says, A dying breed, long haired, tattooed, hardcore genuine biker. He talks the talk and walks the walk, "Live to Ride, Ride to Live" is not just a motto to him, it is his way of life. He rides year round, except on snow and ice. There is no weather too cold for him. He is a Harley riding 'junkie'! The only time he even comes close to snapping is when he needs a "riding fix", and he doesn't even have to go far, just a few miles, and he is all better!
He has a heart as big as the world, I've never seen a child or a dog that didn't fall in love with him instantly, (that should tell you something about his character). He is NEVER to busy to help a friend or a stranger in need. He'll laugh with you, he'll cry with you, and if someone does you wrong, he'll help you get even! He wants to go and do whatever he can for every fund raiser he hears about, whether it's 'biker' related or not. Of course that's not always possible, but it causes him real pain when he can't. He would give you the shirt off of his back, and yeah, it would be a Harley t-shirt, cause that's all he has. He has seen so much tragedy in his life, (which I will let him tell about when I give him this page) and he still wakes up every morning with a song in his heart! It takes so very little to make him happy! This page is so much 'nothing' that I can give him, yet I know beyond doubt that it will make his spirit SOAR!
You are more than welcome to request his friendship, but I won't accept them for him, they'll be there waiting for him when I have this page finished, which won't be too long, maybe a couple of weeks, I can only work on it when he's sleeping. Some of you are probably already on his current 'friends' list, but you don't realize it. His current page is very basic, with just a few pictures and facts about him, none of the graphics he wishes it had. So keep and eye out for him, when you see his actual picture, you'll know the page is done, and it's all his!
I am NOT saying all of these things about him just because I am 'in love' with him, I am in love with him BECAUSE he is all of these things! He truely is the man of my dreams! So, sorry all you lady bikers, you are welcome to be his friend, but he belongs to ME!
