Christmas Serenity

Dawn has ascended..
The sun slowly rising upon the horizon..
Sky of periwinkle blue..
Ground covered in angelic white..
Snow came off and on throughout the holy night..

The house is warm and awaiting the holiday cheer..
The tree glows brightly with lights of many colors..
Candy Canes hanging and awaiting to be enjoyed..
Presents wrapped and given that special attention of tags and bows..
Soft candles of holly-berry and vanilla silently glow..

Christmas carols softly play..
All is calm for the children still sleep..
I curl up in my chair with a warm cup of cocoa..
Checking my Christmas list
Then checking it twice..
Cause Lord knows I can’t remember who was naughty or nice..

The house slowly comes alive..
As laughter and cheers come thundering through the Christmas Serenity..
Children descending stairs two at a time..
Excitement fills the room..
Morning kisses and hugs abound..
Times like these makes me wish Christmas was year round..

Titter-tatter, rustling paper..
Bows flying, boxes tearing..
Smiles of astonishment and eyes sparkling bright..
Santa was here – he arrived in the night..

Presents all open..
Thanks and hugs all around..
Time to move to the kitchen..
For candy, cookies, and candy galore..
Trust me my friends – Christmas is never a bore..

Counter is set and dinner is ready..
Our family united and around the table
We sit and reminisce of days gone past..
Telling of the story of Joseph, Mary, and the stable..
Thankful for the birth that brought us to this special moment..

As the Christmas Serenity descends once again
And the festivities are over..
All is quiet and the candles are low..
Curl up in my chair and a glass of wine..
Time to relax and for you to go..
Merry Christmas to all and to all a beautiful holy night.
