We just came back from an awesome weekend in SC - at da famous cornfield.  (No, I can't tell you where it is, or I'd be killed!)  Our good friend, Tweety, babysat Buddy for us so we were able to head out with no worries first thing Saturday morning.

Now it was pretty dang cold when we left out at 8am - Hank's gauge on his bike was showing 35 degrees.  We looked like 4 Eskimos heading out - I had so much stuff on, I couldn't hardly lift my leg up to get on the bike!  But, we took off and headed east on I-20 into SC.  When I say we burned up the road - we did - cruising about 90 all the way.  But we were dressed for it and as the sun came up and we headed farther east it got warmer and warmer.

We arrived at the stately mansion at the cornfield - greeted by our good friend, DaWyldMan.  MongoSC arrived and after some cold beers and the requisite hugging and checking out everyone's bikes, we got back on the bikes (no helmets this time) and headed towards the coast.

We stopped at the Sheldon Church Ruins on the way - beautiful place - but it got burned by the Union Army in the Civil War.  Even though it was burned, they couldn't erase the stately beauty of the place.  WyldMan knows DC is very into anything regarding the Civil War.  We spent quite a bit of time walking the grounds and reading the history of the place.

Got back on the bikes and headed out to Beaufort (pronounced BUUUfurt, just so you know).  Stopped at this little restaurant Barbara Jeans and had a little food and libation.  Then it was time to start heading back since none of us wore jackets or anything and we needed to get back before the sun went down.  Needless to say, we didn't get back till after dark - but it wasn't too cold and we survived.

Then it was time to kick back (after about 400 miles on the bike that day) with some suds and a nice roaring fire in the backyard looking out at the cornfield.  The moon was full and the company was awesome and we just had a blast!  Wyldman had an Esteban Sparkle Guitar that he brought out for DC to play.  DC said, "Hell I can't play this, I gotta grow out my fingernails!"  But he picked a little while we enjoyed the night sounds and serenity of the cornfield.

Went off to bed and slept like logs until the next morning.  It was a little cooler, but we weren't skeert.  We all had breakfast together at the local Huddle House and then went off to look at more Civil War ruins (DC took pics of all the plaques and no I won't bore you with posting them lol).

Then it was time to say our goodbyes and head back to Atlanta.  We suited up and hopped on the steel horses and started our trek back to Atlanta - arriving home just before 6pm.  I was fine the whole way until the last 50 miles when my butt started screaming ENOUGH and I was cramping from my waist down to my shoes.  But I hung in there and DC helped me off the bike lol.

Then we went to pick up our Buddy boy who had a great time with Aunt Tweety and her little (Rottie) slut dog Lucy (I won't even tell you what went on while we were gone!)

We took Buddy home and promptly put him in his crate and headed back out to meet Tweety for some dinner.  Got home a little after 9pm and fell into bed - happy and exhausted!

We were only gone a weekend - but we felt as if we had a week's vacation - it was so much fun packed into a short time.  We had a BLAST!

Thanks for the great times Wyld and the Gang.  Can't wait to do it again!!!
