The sun was out - the temperature rising - the bike was calling our names (along with several of our friends).  We headed over to the local biker pub - aka Mia's - to join in a benefit ride.  Very sad story - young mom with a 5 mo old baby - mom has terminal brain cancer, no insurance, etc.  I was happy to see such a large turnout to help this young family and we headed out on about a 70 mile ride in her honor.  Now I have to tell you, this was the fastest benefit ride I was ever on - police escort all the way - cop was in front - and we hauled ASS all the way - with about 100 bikes screaming down the road in excess of 80 mph or more all the way!

Megamamma and GACruiser and HD Slim joined us for the ride - and we enjoyed some food and libation after the ride.  Tweety joined up with us, so we had to ride a little more, of course!  Was just great to be in the sun, in the wind, and just cruising with our friends!

Sunday proved to be even nicer and this time HDSlim, Suzanne, Tweety, Mamma and Cruiser, and us met up, with no particular destination in mind, we just wanted to ride.  We headed down to gas up and ran into another pack of riders that DC knew the leader.  They were heading over to Alabama to an "all you can eat" seafood place, where they had a reservation for 25.  All of their group did not show up, and they invited us to come.  Boy are we glad we did!  Ride was awesome - getting warmer by the minute - and we drove into Alabama - out in the middle of nowhere to this rustic, out of the way, next to nothing, restaurant by the Little Talapoosa River, called Butlers.  Our pack of about 17 bikes rolled in and settled into our seats for a feast.  I tell you what, we ate till we were about to POP!  Awesome food!  Very picturesque setting right on the river, with a small waterfall.  AFter we enjoyed our luncheon, we just hung out for a while by the river, talking to the owners, and just enjoying listening to the water, enjoying the sun on our faces, and getting to know our new friends.

We took the long, windy road back into Georgia - no traffic at all, just the roar of many motorcycles cruising along - a symphony of sound that was music to all of our ears.

We stopped at a spot where our group was going to start splitting off - talked some more and said our goodbyes - and headed back towards home, but had to stop at Shucker's for a couple of cold ones - more talking and laughing and enjoying great company - before cruising back home - satisfied and content after a whole weekend of being in the wind.

Just doesn't get better than that!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Hugs,

Lanie
