The state of Georgia is intending to kick as many as 80 veterans out of the GA War Veterans Home. Many of these were homeless before entering the home and I'm sure many will be homeless again, with no family, money or a place to stay. These vets have already been served letter to vacat by December 1, 2008.

All this to save less than 2.7 million dollars a year, in a state budget that is over 2.8 BILLION dollars a year. I'm sure they can find a more appropriate place to cut the budget, other than at the expense of our veterans who are most in need. These are men who served in war and due to physical and psychologial injuries, unemployed and many without any families, rely on this home for basic quality of life. A roof, a bed, a hot meal and clothing.

A ride is planned to deliver letters asking the funding be continued for the War Veterans Home. Copy and paste the letter, sign it and mail it to the address in the letter. Better yet, get your friends to sign letters too. Even better, collect those letters up and join us on a ride to the state capitol on September 19th, 2008. We want to have enough bikes, scooters, even trucks and cars to thoroughly snarl traffic in downtown Atlanta, when we deliver these letters to the Governer personally, to draw attention to this issue.

And I'd like to thank Jim "Taxi" Lefty of GA ALR 127 for coming up with this idea!

Keep up your good works! Let us know how it turned out. As by your "mood" indicator, I think that you will motivate many to attend!

Agree 1000%!!!  Never short change the Vets!

I didn't see the letter.  Would you send it to me?  coach_results@yahoo.com

Looking forward to seeing many riders next Friday.  Skip work and Ride for the Vets---they did so much more than that for you.
