Welcome Home Sgt. Nick McCoy
STEEL PONY EXPRESS
DATE: 13 Nov 2007, 3:51 pm / MOOD: Eager to ride
On Saturday November 17, the Patriot Guard Riders of SouthEast Pennsylvania will complete a mission that was begun two weeks ago in NorthEast Philadelphia. There we attended a funeral for Corporal Adam Chitjian, US Army. Adam was killed by enemy small arms fire during combat operations in Iraq. His best friend was with him when he died and that friend killed the bastard who killed Adam. Adam was 39 years old. He joined the Army at the age of 35 because he believed it was the right thing to do while his country was at war. He was a member of the 1st Cavalry Division and while he and his family are from Philly, he met his wife Shirley while stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, before deploying to Iraq. As the Senior Ride Captain for the Patriot Guard in SE PA, I am the one who receives the PGR plaques that we present to the families of every fallen soldier for whom we are invited to ride. As usual, because of the distance and time involved, the plaque arrived at my home after the funeral. Normally I would simply take the plaque to the home of the widow or mother, but in this case Adam's wife Shirley had already returned to her home in Coppera's Cove, Texas, outside of Fort Hood. So I got in touch with the Patriot Guard Ride Captains in Texas, and together we decided to take the plaque to Mrs. Chitjian. WE WOULD NEVER JUST MAIL IT TO HER - THAT WOULD BE WRONG. But the mission is not complete until the plaque is delivered with honor and dignity, so we decided to do a Pony Express Ride from Philadelphia to Texas. There is a large flag pole on the lawn of the funeral home where Adam's services were held. It was at the base of that pole that we parked an Army Hummvee to honor Adam on the day of his services. We also lowered the flag on that pole to half-mast for him. Early on Saturday morning I will ride to that home, take the plaque to the flag pole, and render a silent salute. Then we (I and a few dozen fellow PGR) will mount our steel ponies and begin the plaque's trek to Texas. We will carry it to the Pennsylvania/Delaware State line. There we will hand it off to the Delaware Patriot Guard Riders. They in turn will carry it to Virginia, then South Caroline, and so on to Oaklahoma and finally Texas, where the Texas Patiot Guard Ride Captain will present it to Shirley. Only then will I be able to say "mission accomplished."

You saw a "biker," I saw you...
DATE: 22 May 2007, 5:48 pm / MOOD: Horny
You saw a biker...but I saw you.
I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday.
I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn't see me playing Santa on our annual Toys for Tots run.
I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But you didn't see me riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the window of your cage.
I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children. But you didn't see me when I to ok time off from work to run toys to the homeless.
I saw you roll your eyes at my leather coat and gloves. But you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old coats and gloves to those who had none. I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn't see me cry as my children where born and have their name written over and in my heart. I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn't see me going home to be with my family.
I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you yelling at your kids in the car. But you didn't see me pat my child's hands knowing he was safe behind me.
I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But you didn't see me squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn't see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.
I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But you didn't see me trying to turn right.
I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn't see me leave the road.
I saw you waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn't see me. I wasn't there.
I saw you go home to your family. But you didn't see me because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But you didn't see me. But I saw you.

HD Rider's Creed
DATE: 24 Mar 2007, 1:46 pm / MOOD: Horny
I know it's just advertising bullshit, but the Harley-Davidson "Rider's Creed" video is awesome. Here is the entire text of the creed: We believe in going our own way, no matter which way the rest of the world is going. We believe in bucking the system that's built to smash individuals like bugs on the windshield. Some of is believe in The Man upstairs; all of us believe in sticking it to the man down here. We believe in the sky and we don't believe in the sunroof. We believe in freedom. We believe in dust, tumbleweeds, buffalo, mountain ranges and riding off into the sunset. We believe in saddle bags and we believe the cowboys had it right. We believe in refusing to knuckle under to anyone. We believe in wearing black because it doesn't show any dirt...or weakness. We believe the world is going soft, but we're not going along with it. We believe in motorcycle rallies that last a week. We believe in roadside attractions, gas station hot dogs, and finding out what's over the next hill. We believe in rumbling engines, pistons the size of garbage cans, fuel tanks designed in 1936, freight train-sized headlights, chrome and custom paint. We believe in flames and skulls. We believe life is what you make it, and we make it one hell of a ride. We believe the machine you sit on can tell the world exactly where you stand. We don't care what everyone else believes. Amen.
