VIEWING 1 - 10 OUT OF 194 TOTAL
R. I. P. Myrtle Beach
DATE: 02 Oct 2008, 9:08 am / MOOD: Hurt
Tomorrow me and the OL ride out at sunrise to pay our last respects to Myrtle Beach and The Pilgrimage. Its looks as though even if the event continues...it will never be the same. We canceled our motel in Myrtle and have now relocated to N. Myrtle where we believe the city will welcome us. Although, the have activated 3 ordinances including the helmet and noise laws....my understanding is they are not issuing tickets...just warnings, however, how many times will you get stopped for a noise check....to many for us to deal with. So off we go to N. Myrtle to wind down the summer and replenish ourselves in the Atlantic Ocean and party with friends. Plan on taking alot of pictures of the atmosphere and riders for what could be The Last Prilgrimage. Ride Safe...and if you go to the ralley....avoid the hassel of Myrtle Beach......swing around the town on 31.

The Saga of Stone Mountain
DATE: 18 May 2008, 2:32 pm / MOOD: Tired
We should have known, when I ran over a screwdrive in the road 5 miles from the house...that it was ON, and we were in for a fight. A car had hit the screwdriver in the road, spun it over to our lane, LHC through her mad driving skills managed to not get screwed...and I on the other hand took it like a man and ran over it with the front tire. After a quick check everything was fine and the trip began. Great cruise down to Georgia, fair weather, cool temps, not much traffic....all seemed peaceful....was looking for our hotel and stopped for directions, while LHC was zipping up her coat, she caught her necklace in the zipper and in the process of trying to get it loose, lost the diamond pendant that I gave her for Valentines....so here I am in the corner of a busy parking lot crawling around on my hands a knees like some drunk trying to find his way home......no luck the diamond belongs to Stone Mountain. Round 1 - Stone Mountain. So...after checking in and assuring LHC that it was no big deal about the diamond, we grab us some quick grub at the steak house with our good friends Donna & Homer...off we go to the hell that became Stone Mountain (I should have been stoned....could have handled it better) Got some great pic...over 200, still sorting...once inside purchased a few items, grabbed us a seat and waited for the show. During the show our friend Donna all of a sudden could not find her glass pendants she had bought.....so here are all 4 of us scowering around on the boulders, looking in cracks and holes, while people are trying to watch the show....once again on my hands and knees.....(round 2 to Stone Mountain)...never did find the items Once we concieved that the items were gone, we prepared to head out, when all of a sudden I heard LHC declare....OH SHIT !!!!!....I can't find my key....("wait...did she just say...can't find her key")...so here we are now holding lighter to ground walking around looking for 1 bike key on a purple racoon tail.....panick stricken and pissed that once again I am down on my hands and knees .......No Luck....Round 3 to Stone Mountain. Back at the rides trying to figure out what move to make...was damn sure not leaving the bike there......Lost and Found.....No Help......saddle bags empty....no luck.....recheck all pockets for key.....NO DAMN LUCK........having a friend whose 2005 custom key fits your 2007 L ignition...........PRICELESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So once we remembered how to breathe again....we decided to run back to the hotel room, hide out, get up early in the morn, and run as fast as we could with our tail between our legs back to NC.......... But you know what ???????? Isn't that what the ride's all about......the adventure. Ride Safe People....and watch out for Stone Mountain. OLH & LHC

Little Southern's Party
DATE: 05 May 2008, 8:06 am / MOOD: Satisfied
Saturday morn, heading out to get to LSS party and escape the fast pace of the big city. Although we got a late start the ride up was just what the doctor ordered. Pulling in finally at LSS home, it was once again great to see and hang out with one of our great friends we have met here at BW. Her new home is nestled back on about 5 acres of peacefulness and we were ready for a night of good food, drinks and good friends. Along with some new people we met were Alphagator, CrossVegas Dave, and later on that night FXDOGG94 (he made a mad dash to the party once he heard we were having some homemade beverages and gravy biscuits the following morn). Sunday morn we shook out the aftermath of the night before and took off on our mountain run. Down Traphill Road, up to Stone Mountain, down 18 to Stations End a local waterhole for weary riders, back up 18 to the Blue Ridge Parkway, down the winding Hwy 21 back to Elkin, a great ride and a very well guided run by LSS.....Thanks Little (except for the 2 mile gravel road down the mountains....we will have to talk about that little surprise). Its always good time with LSS, and we look forward to seeing her again soon. Just a few snap shots of a few of the views we had on our little trip. Thanks for the ride LSS see ya around.....Ride Safe People....OLH

Double Dog Dare Ya
DATE: 29 Apr 2008, 8:54 am / MOOD: Content
Fairly long...but I enjoyed the read...found it on the interweb. Ride Safe People....OLH DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN...? All the girls had ugly gym uniforms?

It took five minutes for the TV warm up?

Nearly everyone's Mom was at home when the kids got home from school?

Nobody owned a purebred dog?

When a quarter was a decent allowance?
You'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny?
Your Mom wore nylons that came in two pieces?
All your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers had their hair done every day and wore high heels?

You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas pumped, without asking, all for free, every time? And you didn't pay for air? And, you got trading stamps to boot?
Laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box?
It was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant with your parents?
They threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed. . . and they did?
When a 57 Chevy was everyone's dream car...to cruise, peel out, lay rubber or watch submarine races, and people went steady?
No one ever asked where the car keys were because they were always in the car, in the ignition, and the doors were never locked?
Lying on your back in the grass with your friends? and saying things like, 'That cloud looks like a... '?
Playing baseball with no adults to help kids with the rules of the game?

Stuff from the store came without safety caps and hermetic seals because no one had yet tried to poison a perfect stranger?

And with all our progress, don't you just wish, just once, you could slip back in time and savor the slower pace? Share it with the children of today.
When being sent to the principal's office was nothingcompared to the fate that awaited the student at home?
Basically we were in fear for our lives, but it wasn't because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! But we survived because their love was greater than the threat.
Send this on to someone who can still remember Nancy Drew, the Hardy? Boys,Laurel and Hardy, Howdy Dowdy and the Peanut Gallery, the Lone Ranger, The Shadow Knows,Nellie Bell, Roy and Dale, Trigger and Buttermilk.
. .as well as summers filled with bike rides, baseball games, Hula Hoops, bowling and visits to the pool, and eating Kool-Aid powder with sugar. Didn't that feel good, just to go back and say, 'Yeah, I remember that'?
I am sharing this with you today because it ended with a double dog dare to pass it on. To remember what a double dog dare is, read on. And remember that the perfect age is somewhere between old enough to know be tter and too young to care.
How many of these do you remember? Candy cigarettes
Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water inside.

Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles.
Coffe e shops with tableside jukeboxes.
Blackjack, Clove and Teaberry chewing gum.
Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers.

Newsreels before the movie.
P.F. Fliers.

Telephone numbers with a word prefix...(Raymond 4-601). Party lines.

Peashooters.
Howdy Dowdy.
 Hi-Fi's & 45 RPM records.
 78 RPM records!
 Green Stamps.

Mimeograph paper.
The Fort Apache Play Set.
Do you remember a time when...
Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'?
Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, 'Do Over!'?
'Race issue' meant arguing about who ran the fastest?

< B>Catching the fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening?
It wasn't odd to have two or three 'Best Friends'?

The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was 'cooties'?
Having a weapon in school meant being caught with a slingshot?

Saturday morning cartoons weren't 30-minute commercials for action figures?
 'Oly-oly-oxen-free' made perfect sense?
Spinning around, getting dizzy, and falling down was cause for giggles?
The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team?
War was a card game?
Baseball cards in the spokes transformed any bike into a motorcycle?
Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspirin?
Water balloons were the ultimate weapon?
If you can remember most or all of these, then you have lived!!!!!!!
Pass this on to anyone who may need a break from?their 'grown-up' life . .
I double-dog-dare-ya!

Spring Forward
DATE: 12 Mar 2008, 12:43 pm / MOOD: Elated
Gotta love NC...other than a couple of days of a few sleet and snow pellets, we have cruised through the winter able to ride pretty much everyday. Low 40's are good riding temps, keeps you pumped up, and as long as the wind stays down, tolerable. Today hit 69 and tomorrow promises 75 and the rest of the week shows to be mid 60's to low 70's....so as far as I am concerned winter is over and time to make those farther trips out to unexplored towns and cities....Ride Safe People....hopefully see ya down the road....OLH
