Another day of riding
DATE: 07 Apr 2007, 10:29 pm / MOOD: Happy
So a couple of weeks ago I finally hit the 12 miles ridden mark. This was a big deal. The only issue I was having was making ridiculously wide right hand turns. (this is what happens when you peer at that yellow double line). Finally, I ride again today. I've had this head cold crud going on and even though the weather has been perfect, ya cain't ride with balloon head. I did ok today other than laying that bad girl down again! But it wasn't my fault! DH had taken her out of the garage for me and cranked her up, using the choke. Since I hadn't turned the choke ON, I didn't think to turn it off. Soooo, making one of those funky right hand turns and wham, she dies on me and off I hop while she lays herself gently down on my footboard. Scared me to death - but all was good. Got up to 55mph again and crossed a very busy road, Hwy 120; damn that was scary. Then crossed a rr track and had to come down a bit of a hill and turn L - My guardian angel was working full time today. But since DH now has the crud, he felt like sh*t and we only did 13 miles. Ooooo, it was FUN though !

My Mom
DATE: 06 Dec 2006, 11:30 am / MOOD: Other
My mother passed away on Sunday morning. My father had a small stroke on Friday evening. My sweet 18 year old daughter left for 2 months in South East Asia for missionary work and I am scheduled for minor surgery on Friday. The reason for this post is to give kudos to a wonderful group of folks over at www.delphiforums.com. The group is called Women Who Ride. If you looked up kindness and compassion in the dictionary, you would find this group of women (and some cool guys) listed there. To all of you, a public Thank you. You rock.

Rain...again
DATE: 13 Nov 2006, 5:55 pm / MOOD: Tired
If I had got my butt out this morning, I could have ridden, but I didn't and when I got back from an errand, it was pouring. Perhap tomorrow.

Finally, out again..
DATE: 12 Nov 2006, 3:05 pm / MOOD: Satisfied
I used to LOVE the rain...all cozied up in front of the fire, good book - hot tea - all my kids at home. But rain for me at this point, means no riding. It rained most of the day yesterday, so the bike never came out. This afternoon I was able to ride since the streets were deemed dry enough by my sweet DH. I got back from an errand and there was my bike on the street!! Woo hooooo! I rode 4.2 miles!! And I got up to about 40mph (which felt awfully fast to me, I have to tell ya). When I got back home, I felt like I had come off the coolest ride in Disneyland. My heart rate was up and I was practically shaking with delight. (Hmmmm...why does that sound familiar?) What a blast. Tomorrow...I will break the 5 mile barrier!!!

In my world, rain = no riding...
DATE: 11 Nov 2006, 12:20 pm / MOOD: Disappointed
Rained last night, drizzling right now - no riding for me today. I was stoked about doing my 3 miles today but it was not to be. Actually, I'm glad I'm bummed I can't ride. A couple of weeks ago, I would have been relieved, can you believe that?? Have I thanked all of you who have encouraged me lately? If not, a big hug and a thank you.

Out again!
DATE: 10 Nov 2006, 8:05 pm / MOOD: Elated
Today I rode 2.5 miles! The longest ride so far and it felt so good. I had a funky day and when my work was done, I hopped on the bike wearing my new Joe Rocket jacket and zooom I went. When I got back home, I was jazzed. I GET IT!! It just made my day because it felt right.

Out again, today
DATE: 07 Nov 2006, 8:18 pm / MOOD: Satisfied
My sweet hubby put my bike out on the street again, and I managed to get out there about 4pm. I did almost 2 miles and it felt good! I paid more attention to using the signals then anything else. This is a good thing, because I didn't have to stay so focused on doing the basics. (yeah, turn signals are basic, but they haven't been for me) Finally conquered that silly right hand turn at the end of the street (it's where I flopped over like a damn fish about a month ago) Felt good and I'm going back on tomorrow while the weather holds. For those of you who have send kind words to me....God Bless you and thank you. You ROCK!!

Back in the Saddle
DATE: 05 Nov 2006, 8:02 pm / MOOD: Relieved
I finally got back on the bike today; got home from my weekend at the Delta and found my bike parked out in the street. (gulp) I bought riding overpants on Saturday - NO more excuses! I emptied the truck, put stuff away, groaned at the pile of laundry waiting for me; checked my email; kissed my boys; petted the dogs....oh all right, already! I put on my overpants, put on my xmas socks (I don't wear socks and it's all I have), put on my jean jacket, put on my helmet asnd gloves and marched out the front door. Last time I rode across my neigbors sidewalk - across the street! This time, I focused, remembered what I learned; pictured Dr. Donna at those right turns at a stop sign (in the RLAP video) and zoom, off I went. Not bad. I rode two miles, got it up to 40 mph in 3rd gear and did NOT drop the bike. Made lots of turns and hurried home. I'll be back out there tomorrow. I will overcome my fear and I will ride.
