Watch your brother/sisters back while riding this summer. NHTSA states that in 2006, 4,810 motorcyclists were killed – an increase of 5 percent over the 4,576 motorcyclists killed in 2005. There were 88,000 motorcyclists injured during 2006.
A graph showed the number of fatalities by state, helmeted or alcohol related. The highest number of deaths was in Florida, 562 deaths, 53% helmeted, 46% not, and 384 were had alcohol in their system. Next was Texas with 346 deaths, 36% helmeted, 63% not, and 192 had alcohol in their system.
