Why Do You Ride?
DATE: 02 Mar 2008, 6:03 pm / MOOD: Content
I never thought I would ride a motorcycle - ever!!!! But here I am at 57 and loving the new found freedom that motorcycle riding gives. I've had sports cars and boats; thought they were the greatest experiences BUT nothing compares to motorcycles. I've often wondered if I was the only one who felt this way - what about you?

We're Back from Indy!!!
DATE: 19 Feb 2008, 5:12 pm / MOOD: Satisfied
How is everyone today? Gorilla and I just got back from the International Powersports Dealer Show in Indy. The weather was much more tolerable but the show was a little disappointing. For several years we've been attending this show and looked forward to finding the latest and greatest "bling", tools and gear for motorcycles (we were dealers once upon a time). This year, however, the show had changed. I don't believe I've ever seen so many scooters, ATV's and bicycles - yes bicycles - in all my life. The entire floor of the RCA dome was covered in dealers from mostly Asian countries with every conceivable type of scooter imaginable. Not very much for motorcycles but we did manage to find a few goodies in the crowd. Got to meet Cory Ness, Matt Hotch and Dave Perowitz. Gorilla was doing his thing with the babes, of course. Will have a new slide show by the end of the week on my page so don't miss it. Take it easy, ride safe and we'll talk at ya later!!! Chattbiker

Atlanta Bike Show
DATE: 21 Jan 2008, 5:08 am / MOOD: Happy
There was a bike show in Atlanta GA this past weekend and, as is our usual practice, we ventured from TN just for it. This bike show is really a venue for all the new bikes and I do mean ALL - dirt, ATV's, sport, cruiser. Bike manufacturers include BMW, Triumph, Honda, Harley, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki and others you may not have even heard of yet. It's a lot of fun and we always make the effort to be there. This year it was bitterly cold so not much bike riding was done but the crowds were good. The best thing for me this year was meeting Matt Hotch. If you're not familiar with the name, he was one of the builders on Biker Build Off on Discovery channel a few years ago. He is traveling with Crime Inc. to the various shows and was very friendly and amiable. Any time I can meet a great lookin' guy - that's my best day. If you get a chance next year, try to visit. The website for shows is: www.motorcycleshows.com. Have a good one!!!!!!!

Polar Bear Rides/Runs
DATE: 26 Dec 2007, 4:48 pm / MOOD: Eager to ride
Okay - how many of you are going to ride Jan 1st? I don't care if it's a ride just with your sweetie, by yourself, with your rowdy friends or possibly an organized ride: are you gonna ride? I've always thought that if you rode on 01/01 then you'd have good riding all year - any thoughts?

How Far is Far Enough?
DATE: 12 Nov 2007, 5:29 pm / MOOD: Happy
Just thinking about a conversation we had with some biking friends about the trips we take on the bike. The last trip to Sturgis SD, we traveled a little over 800 miles before find a motel room. Some people think that is crazy - we don't. Truth is, we haven't taken a trip in the car since 1999. Wouldn't be the same. I can't go 800 miles in a car but it seems easy on the bike. Whatcha think?

Toy Runs
DATE: 11 Nov 2007, 6:11 pm / MOOD: Happy
Don't know how many of you attend Toy Runs in your area but I think they are one of the biggest ways the biker community helps their neighbors. We just went on the first of this season, the Polk County TN Toy Run. It was started about 10 years ago by some teachers and church members in Polk County who saw a need. This county is the poorest in the SE TN area and these women decided that the kids deserved a good holiday. The run is sponsored by a Christian motorcycle group in Cleveland TN and they do an excellent job. You can't beat the smiles and tears of the faces as over 100 bikes bring in the toys and money. The church that houses the toys until Christmas provides food and fellowship for the bikers to show their appreciation. How much better can it get? Do you have a favorite toy run?
